De LaVeaga dirt lot
So people love DeLaveaga park. It's small, but has tons of fun stuff in it's small space. It's like the Santa Cruz version of Waterdog. For this ride lets get a bunch of strong beginners out to ride everything we can in the park. Possibly in different directions. I do this all the time at Waterdog, and it amazes people how different a trail becomes when you ride it the opposite direction from what you're used to. Also because this ride is for riders still learning skills we'll likely stop to play at our favorite session spots (rock faces and root gardens, etc.)
I usually only get one weekend day to ride so I try and make the most of it. I'm planning on riding for the full four hours, hopefully covering 20 miles by doing loops. This means the possibility of seeing the same trail more than once during the day. This is a great way to learn how to ride a trail better. Once to get familiar and again to rip it.
Now I know not everyone has the endurance to ride for four hours straight so DeLaveaga is perfect for them. It's really easy to bail out early if you get worn out before we're done. If you do stick around though we'll head into town and grab some food at Seabright Brewery or another local spot.
Remember all of San Jose Mtb's rides require a ready to ride Mountain Bike and Helmet. Being that it is fall you may also want to consider some extra layers or a jacket. I'll be planning on riding rain or shine. I have contingencies that I plan in the event the trails will be too wet here... can you say Ft. Ord :)
Can't wait to ride with you all again soon,
