Great ride. A few more times out and I'll be able to keep up with the pack :)

I think that Coyote Creek is fun still.

I totally agree Jason. Heck I had a blast on my 200 dollar walgoose just riding around the santa clara area on paths. Riding is riding... I just don't do it for fitness is all :)

Thanks Julie! Great ride, good pace........let's do it again!

Thanks all for coming out to ride today. I planned for a 2-1/2 hour ride yet we finished within 2 hours with 1 hour 45 minutes actual ride time. 25 miles on a mountain bike is not easy. You all did great. Continue to keep endurance to your mixed bag of rides. See you on the next one....and don't forget to sign up for one of the upcoming bike clinics.

Any chance to set up a similar ride but taking the dirt paths along the trail instead of the pavement?

Due to lack of rain, i would not ride off trail as David said. This ride is to do distance at a good steady pace. Some mountain bikers i know have good endurance as they also ride long distance road during the week. I prefer to stay off the road so this is one of the best alternative in the valley. Come out and try it. It you are looking to stay on dirt, sign up for Fred's ride at El Serrano.

I recommend you bring your remote control airplane.

Damnit, I got the work call ... besides crossed fingers, I should have crossed my arms, legs and eyes for luck to ride :(

I'll be leaving from Sunnyvale if anyone wants to carpool.

since this trial is paved, is a road bike an allowed option?

It only takes one Julie "to change the pace ... dramatically" as well. Have you been on one of her workout rides?!

      Good point Dean.

Just rode this trail by myself for a 40mi workout this morning. There weren't any small obnoxious dogs today, but can't say the same for a Sunday morning ride ;) Have fun out there!

Seems challenging but I want to keep pushing my limits.

I've encountered thorns on that trail. As Julie suggested, bring tubes.

    • David

No kidding. That's an understatement Eric. Thorn city on that trail.

      October 23, 2013

    • Julie

Really? I've never had any problems. Maybe its a seasonal thing or because I ride around stuff on that trail. Hopefully, we won't experience those issues. Extra tube is always a must when you're miles from the car : )

I told you people would totally show up. But this is not "cross training" lol. Unless you're making them do burpees along the trail :)

Jason people are becoming Cross with your dig on Mnt bikes...

      October 23, 2013

    • Louis M.

Ok, will be riding mnt bike. Just posted that to get compliance on riding my road bike. I do see them on trails though.

I'm glad to see interest in this ride. If you have been on my rides, you know its about exercising, challenging yourself to ride stronger and smarter, and having fun. On this ride, you'll be pedaling for 25 miles with one brief stop. If there is a headwind on the way back, you'll be working the legs : ) Not a recreational pace ride. Please be sure to read the ride description before signing up. Thanks!

I'm gonna see if I can make it. I'm not cleared to ride trails yet, so this sounds perfect for my recovery! :)

Haha thanks for the vote of confidence Louis . but total net gain over 16 miles for this ride is only 250 feet.

    • Louis M.

Yah, let us find some vertical! How about Mmt Etna it is still an active volcano but shoot the soft ashes are so sweet and tackey.

  • Lloyd D.

    Looking forward to it.
