Wilder Ranch Loop - Advanced Beginner

I wasn't certain about riding this Sunday, but then I remembered there are a finite number of days in a lifetime to mountain bike!! Note the later start time so you can sleep in after the time change, get stuff done, or enjoy other things in Santa Cruz beforehand.

*Heavy rain will cancel. Forecast says 60% chance of rain on Sunday as of Tuesday.

Let's meet outside Kelly's French Bakery in Santa Cruz.

The plan is to take the paved bike path to Wilder, ride up Englesman fireroad to Old Cabin (singletrack), down Wilder Ridge Loop fire road to Zane Gray (fun rocky singletrack), and finish off with a tour of the coastal bluffs on the way back. We will re-group along the way, taking a few short breaks as needed. We do our best to stick together as a group and not lose anyone.

This is a varied route with paved bike path, both steep and flat fireroads and singletrack. Be prepared for climbing in the beginning and a couple of root gardens. Santa Cruz Mtn Brewery, Kelly's Bakery and West End Tap & Kitchen are right there for anybody looking for food/drink afterward.

Unlike many other Santa Cruz trails, Wilder is quite exposed. Think sunglasses/sunscreen.

Mileage: approx 16

Pace - Advanced Beginner to Intermediate

Technical - Beginner to Advanced beginner

      Damon my friend
Nice to see you here man. Such a great time riding behind you catching all the dust you picked up with your tires. Lol. I think I'm loving my new Mt Biking nick name from all of you guys. I so look forward to ride with you all again. I promise to bring some GU gel power for every one.
I just hope it burst on everybody's pockets. Lol. Then we all can jump in the ocean. To wash up the GUI sticky gel.

      Ha ha
      Nasty!!!!

      Good times
From crazy jalapeño Ernesto I think Sara has also a new name for me. I forgot how she pronounces it.
I think it sounds good and tasty. Lol

Damon. Great blue bike man. Off the hook. We should ride again soon. Lots if fun and laughs. Thank you for offering water to try to clean my messy chocolate GU gel out of my riding short. It was so dirty and GUI . Smell and taste good. Lol. You are awesome man. Good times.

There is no parking at the bakery right now. But there are few spots at mission st. Once you get out from ingalis st, drive north on swift st and take left on mission st, just before the Cabrillo Hwy. You will see a red Mazda and few spots on that street. Cheers!

Word of advice ... Never carry GU energy gel in your pockets. It is NASTY and STICKY when they explode in your shorts. Even worse when you try to reach for it with your hand.

It it was awesome and encouraging to see some guys come and assist Victor with his broken chain. It got fixed and we continue. No one stay behind and lots if great memories had been created. Band of Brothers and two systems yesterday.
