If convenient, please ride with me from downtown Mountain View. Meeting place: you choose: 8:50 @ McDonald's parking lot on El Monte @ El Camino, Mountain View or 9:30 @ benches by bathrooms at Arastradero. LMK if you chose McDonald's so I'll know to swing by and pick you up.

DESCRIPTION: Distance: 7 - 10 miles. Around 20 if you join me from Mountain View.

PACE: Intermediate slow. (Average speed 9 mph includes CLIMBING.) SHORT regroups.  I'm slow right now due to being off bike for awhile.

TECHNICAL LEVEL: Smooth sailing. Nothin' difficult here peeps.  Mountain bike not necessary.  I'll probably be on my cross bike.  Even a road bike is fine.

NO HELMET = NO RIDE. Please be prepared: bring tool kit, pump, tube, water and food. Drink before you're thirsty; eat before you're hungry.

Are there a lot of difficult climbs on this ride? Or mostly fire roads?

I think you're asking two different questions really: 1) is there a lot of climbing? 2) is it technical? A fire road may not require much technical skill but can be a difficult climb. Answer to both questions: no. But since you're asking you're probably a beginner and this is an intermediate ride. A beginner won't be able to keep the pace. If I'm wrong, please join us!

I'm not a beginner per say. My last ride was about 7 miles of all single track at around a 8-9MPH pace. Only issue is that was back in September before all the craziness of moving across country. I've been road riding back and fourth to work 5-7 miles almost every day the last few weeks averaging about 13-15 MPH. I asked because I'm very unfamiliar with what the west coast has to offer terrain wise :)
