Santa Cruz MTB Festival

For now plan on meeting up in the morning for a pre-expo ride, at Wilder or UC.  Then we'll caravan down to aptos for the expo.

Hey Everyone- I'm hoping we can all participate in support of Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz by attending their annual event. For now, check out their event website. Thanks! ~Krista

4th ANNUAL SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAIN BIKE FESTIVAL RETURNS TO APTOS, CALIFORNIA TO CELEBRATE THE WORLD CLASS MOUNTAIN BIKE FACILITIES, RIDERS, AND CYCLING INDUSTRY OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY

Join us for an exciting two day family-friendly event Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14, 2013 that includes professional and amateur competitions, skills clinics, a kids’ practice area, bike demos and shuttles, an industry expo, and food court/beer garden.

The festival, which was created to celebrate the world class mountain bike facilities, riders, and cycling industry of Santa Cruz county, continues to grow year after year with the generous support of its sponsors, volunteers, and community. In just its third year, the 2012 SCMBF boasted a 50% increase in attendance and athlete participation over the previous year, attracting over 6,000 spectators, 200 amateur and professional athletes, 200 kids’ rodeo participants, 70 sponsors, and 150 volunteers. The success of the event is a testament to the depth of the mountain bike culture in Santa Cruz county

Also, consider becoming a member of Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz They are a very friendly group of fun riders, trail builders, and advocates of everything mountain biking.

I'll be heading into town early for a ride first thing in the morning... Aptos will be crowded, but the UC and Wilder area will be fine. If you want to join me for an early ride let me know by replying to this comment. I'm thinking 7am start, so we can do a loop and then make it to the festival in time for the afternoon events. This won't work if you're doing some of the earlier short track races. But if you're just spectating and checking everything out you should be golden. We can adjust the start time if we need to, but the festival starts at 9am so I don't want to start too late.
