Picnic on Mt. Skinner summit (hike or drive)

There is an amazing picnic spot on the top of Mt. Skinner in Hadley which overlooks the Pioneer Valley. It is accessible by either a relatively easy hike (about 1 mile, starting at 12) or by car/ bike via a road to the top where there is a parking area (starting around 1). There are picnic tables, but no cooking facilities, so we could all bring our own lunches if hiking and/or people driving could bring some simple picnic type food to share. If interested, RSVP and mention in the comments if you'd be interested in the hiking option or would be driving to the top, and ideas for food...

I went home with a small container and a fork because someone thought it was Rachael's. It turns out that it was not, so now I'm wondering who these items belong to.

Hi Edward, I sent you a private message so we could take this off of the list. I will not be going to the Happy Hour tomorrow, but as of now, I think I am able to go the next meeting on the 28th.

Thank you so much for your patience. Where do I find a private message?

I will be going but find it hard to plan so accurately. So I'm changing my RSVP to No but I expect to be there at the summit sometime tomorrow.

I went hiking and returned at around 3pm and met a few of you, though I never properly introduced myself.

Ugh, I forgot about a meeting after school today. Fortunately, next week is the last week for the summer, so hopefully I can make it to another thing.

I wore myself out with yard work today. I want to take it easy tomorrow. Have a great day.

I look forward to a nice hike up Skinner Mt. with like-minded folk. We will be bringing a pasta salad to share.

I'll take the hiking options-ok to bring a dog?

I think so, but I'm not sure- I saw a couple of dogs up there this morning- perhaps check the website?

It looks like the road to top is paved. Anyone know the condition of that road? Potholes? If road is good, I'll drive up.

I have hiked up the mountain many times, sometimes with the Tuesday Night hike group, and walked out on the road with the group after dark. Never had a problem with the road surface.

Hi. Shawn, I'd appreciate it if you would send me the details about meeting for the hike. The weekend is still a bit up in the air, so I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make it, but I'm hoping to be there and to bring my son. [masked]

Let me know where the hikers are meeting. Sounds like fun and Sunday's weather looks great.

I guess I am not going to make it, my family is planing a Mother's Day lunch for my 89 year old mom. :(

David and I are coming and would like to hike (slowly). Foodwise, we'll bring a pasta salad and plastic plates and plastic ware (silverware that is plastic).

It is actually Mount Holyoke (part of the Holyoke range), and is within Skinner State Park. I will hike up to the picnic area. I think part of the trail you mention is called the Half Way trail. The mountain is one of my favorites, and I have been there so many times.

We'll touch base later in the week on where the hikers will be meeting, etc so we're on the same page... look forward to seeing you again!

Hell-o , I am not sure if i would be up to doing the hike it would be depending on the weather and also if my arthritis is acting up. I may also bring someone with me if they are available that day, I would not be knowing until the day. If that is ok ? If not I would be going only by myself.

There's no cap on how many people can come to this event, so no worries either way about your friend. I'll be emailing attendees with more information on where the hikers are meeting, etc later in the week if you wind up taking that option. Look forward to meeting you!

We'll take the hiking option...maybe pack some gorp in our rucksacks...was that hiker enough?
