Starkey is a wonderful 8300 acre wildlife park, with many interesting trails, Audubon designed birding trail, 117 species seen, wildlife including deer, turkey, gators, coyotes. Depending on the season, colorful native flowers plants and trees are just begging to be photographed. Water vistas and lookout points make for interesting walks.
Camping in main campground, or in group camp, with easy access parking and biking trails. Best of all, its close, off Hwy 52 in New Port Richey area.
Lets camp together, and enjoy a fire, bike ride on 7 miles of trails, or hiking!
I will obtain the permits again for the group site, available only one month ahead. Restrooms with showers are available via family camping area, a short walk from the group camp site. Picnic tables, large fire pit, and firewood (free) and water . No electricity, so bring your lanterns, coolers, food, bedding tent and warm clothing, etc. Propane heaters( love my buddy_ heater) might be a good idea.
Details and dates coming soon. Group meal will be cooked by me on the fire Saturday night, bring an accompaniment. Byob quietly and your fav music. Bikes, walks, wildlife observation, evening campfire, no kayaking. 9-16 campers only 15.00 to 20.00 per night, so its a great deal, your cost will depend on how many are attending.
