$75 5-Course Tasting Menu @ Melisse

I don't think I have to tell anyone in this group about Melisse.  It's consistently rated one of the top restaurants in the entire Los Angeles metro area.

From Zagat:

Food: 28

Decor: 26

Service: 27

Admirers insist it "doesn't get any better" than this "stunning" Santa Monica French-New American from Josiah Citrin known for its "impeccable" prix fixe menus based on the seasons, "deep wine list" and "seamless service" that's "pampering without being obsequious"; it also features a "civilized" atmosphere "where your ears are not assaulted by the noise level", so even if some call it "just a bit outdated", the majority deems it "well worth the pennies."

Melisse normally offers only a standard prix fixe menu for $125.  They don't want to cut that back just to squeeze into the standard DineLA system, but they are offering a special deal.  We're getting the same 5-course tasting for only $75!

The menu may change by the night of our dinner, but here's a sample of the current tasting menu:

Please note the following:

1) There is only one menu.  Everyone will need to order the $75 tasting menu.  There are several supplements to the tasting menu available for additional charges.  They may be able to make some substitutions for food allergies and such, but we can't guarantee that.

2) This price does not include any wine or other beverages.  Their corkage fee is $30 per bottle, but they waive one corkage fee for each bottle purchased from their list.  I will bring a few bottles from my cellar to share, so if we order a couple of relatively inexpensive bottles from their list, we should have plenty of wine to go around without spending a lot of extra money.

3) Please remember that these prices do not include tax and tip.  We always try to leave about a 20% tip, so plan on having approximately 30% added to your food and beverage bill to cover tax and tip.

    This was a great meal at Melisse and thanks to Steve and Paul for sharing gems from their cellars with us. I am now a Melisse fan. Wish they had Dine Melisse price more often.

    Thanks, Pat, for the info. Even though the menu looks good, it's not what I was expecting. I was expecting to get their regular menu items for $75 :( So, I am out.

    Just looked at their page, Steve.

    I think we are getting the 4-course Dine Melisse menu to celebrate their 14th anniversary. I copied it because it wasn't on a page with a link. Here it is: DINE MÉLISSE
    Tuesday- Friday, July 16 – 19th
    and
    Tuesday -Friday, July23 -26th

    To help celebrate our 14th Anniversary,
    We are offering a special 4 Course Menu for $75!
    When making reservations, please specify that you are coming in for the Dine Mélisse Menu!

    Dine Mélisse Menu
    Brentwood Corn Ravioli
    Summer Truffle
    * Chatham Bay Cod
    Braised Shelling Beans, Mushrooms, Smoked Tomato
    * Aged Sonoma Duck
    Figs, Black Rice, Turnips
    or
    Grilled Wagyu Beef Flat Iron
    Fermented Kale, Grilled Onionis and Potatoes
    * Passion Fruit Soufflé Glace
    Coconut Sorbet, Pistachio and Lemongrass

    This isn't the same as the regular $125 tasting menu, but it still looks good. I might be wrong about this but the dates include our night and the price is $75.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
