Locanda Del Lago is the closest thing to an institution on 3rd St. Promenade, now entering their 22nd year at 3rd and Arizona. Their menu is different from most LA Italian spots, focusing on the cuisine of the owners' hometown, Bellagio, on Lake Como, in the Northern Italian region of Lombardia.
Once a month, they feature a special "Morso Della Bestia" (bite of the beast) menu, where they focus on one animal and create a special dinner where every course (except dessert) features it. We've done this event before and always had a great time, so let's do it again.
This month’s menu features:
The wild caught Southern-California Albacore Tuna will be showcased in farmers' market-driven, Italian-inspired dishes, prepared by Michelin starred chef Gianfranco Minuz, as part of the restaurant's ongoing whole-animal dinner series. Dinner will be accented by fresh housemade pastas and seasonal produce from the Santa Monica Farmers' Market: apricot & peach from Everest, cucumber from Wong, Meyer lemon fromGarcia, heirloom tomato from Carpenter, red bell pepper fromJaime, Yukon potato from Weiser, figs from Garcia, Concord grapes from Henry Nicholas, and cilantro from Maggie's.
