New American @ Next Door By Josie

About Next Door By Josie

Culinary scion Josie Le Balch expands into the spacious digs adjacent to her Santa Monica New American for this gastropub serving a midpriced menu of New American snacks, along with offerings from a charcuterie-and-cheese bar and the requisite selection of artisan beers; the cozy, unpretentious setting features open beams and ductworks, wooden wine boxes and hundreds of wine corks in cases along the walls. Expect casual yet inventive gastropub dishes that range from soups, sandwiches and burgers to deviled eggs with duck cracklings, wild game chili, and coconut curry mussels with elk chorizo. Cocktails, California draft beers and boutique wines round things out.

This places does not take reservations so we will have to wait to sit down. I'm limiting the guest list to six because the place is pretty small and I figure we can get seated easier with that number.

Just a friendly, nice group of people sharing a food experience. Had fun :)

Next Door by Josie is little loud and a little chaotic at the 7pm-9pm hours. The food is decent but unremarkable. The highlights were the carmel corn, shrimp and grits, and the beet salad. The deserts were also pretty good. We all liked the ice cream sandwich. Check it out. We had a fun group with lively conversation.

Went to Next Door by Josie this past Wed. for lunch. Nice gastropub fare. Really liked it. We should try Wolf in Sheep's Clothing in Venice. Went there last night! Loved it!! It's a popup in the old Capri space. They will be there for the next 4 months. You can get reservations only for 6 people or more. Definitely a must try.
