Chet,

Just wanted to thank you for your efforts.  Although I don't think I've attended your group yet, I am looking forward to it when some of the things in my personal life are resolved and I have more time for fun things.  In the meantime, I enjoy reading about what you are doing and looking forward to the time when I can join in the fun.  I will try to make an activity or two soon so I can at least meet you and some of the others.

Thanks,
Marty Bruneau

Subject: [wine-392] Happy New Year!!

With the New Year coming up I wanted to wish everyone well and I hope everyone is enjoying the Holiday season. I am looking forward to more events and getting together as we start another year.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for making this club what it is. I have been the organizer for the group for just over a year and a half and although it is quite a bit of work, I am enjoying the opportunity to plan, host and run events, as well as making some great friends and enjoying some wine along the way.
As we continue as a meet-up group into this New Year, I have our usual types of events planned as well as some new ideas to try to keep things interesting.  I will keep the events that went well in the past as well as the places that we have all enjoyed. There have been some places that we frequented that are no longer in business, so we will be adding some new venues this year. Also, since we are the West Valley Wine Group, we will mainly stick to the West Valley. But, I will add in an event once in a blue moon that will bring us just out of our comfort zone - location wise…nothing too far of course.  Remember, if you are not interested in, or can’t attend a certain event, you do not have to attend.
If you have not noticed, there has been one big change to our group this past month. We went from about 500 members, down to just about 200 members. Yes, 300 people were removed from our group.  Most of those people were not active in the last 1-4 years and were removed for that reason, and that was after being reminded several times that I was going to remove them. A handful of members were removed due to excessive no-shows to our events. Just so everyone understands … there is no minimum requirement of meet-up attendance. You pick and choose the meet-ups that you are interested in or can get to. The only thing I ask is - do not rsvp if you can’t attend, or to change your rsvp to an event if you can’t make it…and please do not change your mind last minute.  It is even ok if you do not come to a meet-up for months at a time. Just take a few moments every month or two to check the web page for info, pictures, happenings, or ideas. Just show some interest in the group if you want to remain a member.  If we can get to hosting meet-ups without no-shows, I would consider adding the waiting list back to the rsvp list. Hopefully in streamlining our group, those of us that truly enjoy the events will be able to continue to do so. Plus, I will be able to add in more events during the year.
Once again for this coming year, we will continue doing our usual events and I also have some ideas for new things coming up to keep it interesting.  Of course, you are always welcome to get in touch with me if you have ideas or questions.
Happy New Year and see you next year,
Chet
