Kayak rescue and recovery class

Come join us for fun and learning in the warm waters of Safety Harbor. We'll learn the basic rescues every kayaker should know to fully enjoy this growing sport. Doesn't matter if you're a sea kayaker or recreational kayaker you can learn these techniques to safely and confidently paddle the wonderful waters of Tampa Bay and beyond.

I'm always amazed at how many kayakers I come across in this area that do not know how to get themselves back into their boat after an accidental capsize. You'll have fun in this class and learn games to enforce your knowledge of self and assisted recoveries. Afterwards we'll enjoy a delicious dinner and brew at the famous "Whistle Stop" in Safety Harbor. Kayaks available to rent. Beginners and up will enjoy this class.

Cost: $42.80 if renting a kayak. $32.10 if bringing your own kayak. Please put appropriate cost for your status in the Paypal payment box when rsvping for this class.

This is your chance to practice rescues with a qualified instructor nearby.

What you'll learn: Self rescue, assisted rescue, paddle float rescue, step up or strap rescue, scoop rescue, and all in rescue.    We'll have fun on the water, get wet and learn these important recoveries. Note: must prepay to be signed up. Prepay using Paypal under payments.

Bring: Water, close toed water shoes or sandals with a heel strap please, NO CROCS or FLIP FLOPS, sunscreen and appropriate clothes for kayaking (bathing suite or shorts.), towel and change of clothes for after class.

Perhaps it was just my futile attempt to succeed, or my need to be on blood thinners- but does anyone else look as if they lost a kickboxing match????

A great experience. Well worth the money for the value of a lifetime lesson in saving yourself and others in the event of an emergency. I highly recommend this event.

Great instruction. Can't believe I've been paddling so long and never bothered to learn how to rescue others if need be. Wish we could have covered more material and then be directed to a web link to review the main points to remember. (Not necessary, but it would have been a nice follow up and a FIFTH star rating from me.)

Hey Barbara, thanks for coming out. You can check out Youtube videos under Kayak rescues for some great footage to re-inforce what you learned. This one gives a little different version of what we learned. http://www.youtube.co... Thanks again for the support.

Another good day on the water with everyone. Thanks, Mike, for the instruction. Think I may start doing push-ups to be rescue worthy :)
Sorry I missed the ending, but recommend American Stage in the Park's "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee". Funny!

Trying to pay on line, but it is prompting me for the $42 amount. I have my own kayak so I'm trying to find a way to change it to the $32 within the given 20 minutes! Be patient...I'm trying.

I paddle with the Windyakers (a women's paddle group) - a good idea to learn how to rescue. Also, I just volunteered for the May 18th Swim Across America Race. They are looking for 15 more kayakers to monitor the competiting swimmers
