Kayak rescue and recovery class

Come join us for fun and learning in the warm waters of Safety Harbor. We'll learn the basic rescues every kayaker should know to fully enjoy this growing sport. Doesn't matter if you're a sea kayaker or recreational kayaker you can learn these techniques to safely and confidently paddle the wonderful waters of Tampa Bay and beyond.

I'm always amazed at how many kayakers I come across in this area that do not know how to get themselves back into their boat after an accidental capsize. You'll have fun in this class and learn games to enforce your knowledge of self and assisted recoveries. Afterwards we'll enjoy a delicious lunch and brew at the famous "Whistle Stop" in Safety Harbor. Kayaks available to rent. Beginners and up will enjoy this class.

Cost: $40 if renting a kayak. $30 if bringing your own kayak. Please put appropriate cost for your status in the Paypal payment box when rsvping for this class.

This is your chance to practice rescues with a qualified instructor nearby.

What you'll learn: Self rescue, assisted rescue, paddle float rescue, step up or strap rescue, scoop rescue, and all in rescue.    We'll have fun on the water, get wet and learn these important recoveries. Note: must prepay to be signed up. No discounts on this class. Prepay using Paypal under payments.

Directions:  Note that Google link doesn't quite take you to the correct place. You'll have to stay on Lafayette Blvd/Race Track Rd. and take the third left. Continue into the park to the dirt road.  Wind your way around the dog track and then left to the pavilion at the second lake.

Bring: Water, close toed water shoes or sandals with a heel strap please, NO CROCS or FLIP FLOPS please, sunscreen and appropriate clothes for kayaking (bathing suite or shorts.), towel and change of clothes for after class.

shhhh. I thought we were telling people these came from cage fighting. BTW, those handy dandy phone cases don't work in with this kind of wear and tear. # Waiting for a new phone. Hoping the "cloud" works. :-) Happy Wednesday!

Excellent class. Great to learn how to get yourself and other kayakers back safely in their kayaks. I had no idea how difficult it would be before the training.

This class was awesome! I think if I am ever in a bad situation and the adrenaline starts flowing, I'll be able to apply what I learned and get back in that kayak!!
