This is the rescheduled trip that got canceled on Saturday, the 8th. ROMPS trip (River of the Month Paddles)
What: We'll paddle the famous Anclote River located in nearby Tarpon Springs. Famous you say, it's the only river that has two eco systems. The river's northern side has a slightly different eco system then the southern side. We'll put-in and paddle up river meandering through and under US 19. Just past the highway we'll veer off to the left and paddle up to the even more famous "Anclote River Boat Club" If you've been there you probably laughing right now at that name, but that's what the bikers call it in these parts. The folks at the bar are always cordial to us, the music is great, and you might say this place has character. Its the only place I know of where if you order a beer on one end of the bar it may slide down the other end to your friend. Paddle difficulty: beginner and up paddle. Approx. 5 mile paddle. Kayaks available for rent.
We'll eat a late lunch at Captain Jacks, but bring cash for a beer or two at the boat club.
Cost: $45 with kayak rental (includes all gear) FREE if you bring your own kayak.
Note: 2014 Wet Dog Supporters get 50% off of their kayak rental. Not a supporter? It's only $25/year and you get 50% off all rentals on half day trips and rentals and discounts at a few sponsor restaurants. In addition you get your name in the hat to win the new $1000 sea kayak at our Annual December Holiday Paddle and Party. Just ask Charles Holley, Joe3, and Donna Tew who won the kayaks in 2011,2012, and 2013.
