( Rescheduled trip that was cancelled in March)
Hey Wet Dogs, don't miss out on paddling the Weedon Island trail loop. This area is famous for the 38 mangrove trails winding through the preserve as well the many shore birds that call this home.
After paddling this area many times I decided I'd like to know more about this island paradise. So after researching online I discovered that the history of Weedon Island has a very unique past including Indian mounds, archeological digs, spanish explorers, a small air port, and a hollywood movie site. Not too mention the Weedon family themselves. There an account of a family member Dr. treating Chief Oseolo himself and later befriending the great Seminole Chief.
We'll paddle from the roundabout just near the pier to the the first mangrove trail to begin our journey. Beginners and up will enjoy this trip. Approx 7 miles
