ROMPS trip (River of the Month Paddles)
We'll paddle the famous Anclote River located in nearby Tarpon Springs. Famous you say, it's the only river that has two eco systems. The river's northern side has a slightly different eco system then the southern side. We'll put-in at the Alt 19 bridge on the right near the Sponge Docks and paddle up the rivers meandering path and under US 19. Just past the highway we'll veer off to the left and paddle up to the even more famous "Anclote River Boat Club" If you've been there you probably laughed at that name, but that's what the bikers call it in these parts. The folks at the bar are always cordial to us, the music is great, and it has character. Its the only place I know of where if you order a beer on one end of the bar it may slide down the other end to your friend. Come join us and find out what we mean. Paddle difficulty: beginner and up paddle. Approx. 5 mile paddle. Kayaks available for rent.
We'll eat a late lunch on the sponge docks, but bring cash for a beer or two at the boat club.
Cost: $45 with kayak rental (includes all gear) FREE if you bring your own kayak.
