"A Salty Piece of Land"

Saturday- Sunday Jan 16th and 17th - Come join us for for a well needed Campout on Shell Island. after the Holiday's. Shell Island is located just North of Fort Desoto and is a beautiful elbow shaped piece of paradise formed by the hurricanes years ago. Bunces Pass flows in between the islands on it's way to the warm Gulf waters. The white sandy beaches some of the best in the US. We've enjoyed entertaining over 250 adventure seeking folks the last nine years on this famous beach. Beginners and up trip- kayaks and tents available for rent if needed. Approx. 2 mile paddle paddle there and back.

We'll paddle out (45 min paddle for beginners) across open azure blue waters, and white sandy flats to our salty piece of land. Ft. Desoto has been voted the best beach in the US in 2008. Well, if you've ever been to this nearby island paradise, you'd beg to differ. Shell Island is the king of beaches.

We'll set up camp and then gather to learn everyone's name and then just relax. If you haven't kayak camped out on Shell Island before you're in for a special treat. The sands are perfect and the weather is ideal for camping. We'll cook our famous Australian Dinkim Chilli for dinner and as night falls away we'll sit and warm ourselves by a roaring camp fire. Some may steal away for a walk up the beach. If the conditions are right phosphorescence activity in the waves can illuminate the shores at night. Later on you'll notice one by one people leaving the fire to retire to their tents to fall asleep to the soft waves lapping on the shore. SURLY ONE TRIP NOT TO MISS!

Sunday you'll awake to the smell of breakfast and coffee. We'll enjoy the morning, cleanup our spot and then pack up for a short paddle home.

" We are a "Eco Friendly" group of adventures practicing "Leave no trace" camping, only foot prints and memories.
