Wet Dog Adventures Message Board › New Meetup: HANDS ACROSS THE SAND No Drilling off our Beaches Protest
Safety Harbor, FL
Announcing a new Meetup for Wet Dog Adventures!
What: HANDS ACROSS THE SAND No Drilling off our Beaches Protest
When: Saturday, February 13, 2010 1:00 PM
Where: Maderia Beach at 134th Ave parking lot just off the beach.
We are Protesting to Protect
Hands Across The Sand is devoted to protecting our coastline and waterways from the devastating environmental effects of oil exploration and support industries.
There are groups organizing on all of our Gulf Beaches. Wet Dog will be joining a group out on Madeira Beach at 134th Ave and we hope you’ll join us. The official Madeira Beach group will be at Archibald Park, but hopefully the line will stretch far enough to reach us at 134th!
Please RSVP on the Website if you are going to join us.
What To Do On… February 13, 2010
Go to the beach at 1:00 for one hour, rain or shine. WEAR BLACK! When everyone is lined up around the entire state, it will look like one big oil slick in the aerial photos that will be taken.
At 1:30 PM EST/12:30 PM CST, join hands for 10 minutes forming lines in the sand against oil drilling in our coastal waters.
Leave only your footprints.
Tips of the Day…
1. Use only approved beach accesses and parking.
2. Create as long a line or as many lines as you wish.
3. Be courteous and respectful to those who disagree with your view.
4. …enjoy yourself, it's the beach!
If it’s reasonably nice outside, we’ll set up tables and everyone can bring food and drinks as they wish. Please be sure not to bring glass, There may be police enforcement of the “no glass” policy that day. And if it’s too cold to hang out on the beach, we may go by our friends Laurie and Trent house after for a drink or two! Looking forward to it!
