The Happy New Year WHOLE FOOD 101 MeetUp!

We have been sponsored by the Cancer Project's Food for Life program so I will be able to do a full cooking demonstration on an Introduction to How Foods Fight Cancer.

Researchers have been investigating how food choices can help prevent cancer and improve survival. Certain diet patterns seem to have a major effect in helping people diagnosed with cancer to live longer, healthier lives. The National Cancer Institute research shows that as much as 50% of cancer risk may be related to diet. In this class, you will learn about the right food choices that can help reduce the risk of developing cancer as well as overcome the disease after it has been diagnosed.

This class includes generous food samplings, 4 recipes and handouts!

Its going to be a delicious and very informative class! Because this class is going to be sold-out, I do request that if you have RSVPd Yes and cannot make it, please change the status.

I hope to see you there!

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a great holiday season! I'm definitely anticipating the new year and I'm so excited to see everyone in our first MeetUp of the year. We've had some amazing and inspiring MeetUps in 2010 -- from Raw Food to Ayurveda to Macrobiotic and what better way to start the new year with a WHOLE FOOD 101 Meetup?

What is a "Whole Food" -- you see it all the time in food labels but is it really "whole?" What does this too-often used for marketing term really mean and why is it important to our health? In this MeetUp we will explore the vast variety of health-supportive foods including whole grains, beans, sea vegetables, condiments, oils and natural sweeteners; why we use them, how to gradually stock your pantry with these high-quality staples, and techniques on how to prepare them. There will be a sampling of whole food dishes and refreshments to enjoy!

Dr. Ian Bulow of Upper Cervical Care Chiropractic has graciously offered to host our MeetUp in their wonderful facilities.

Hi Pete -- Most of the MeetUps have about an hour "formal" program and the rest is networking. Stay for as little or long as you like :)
