Riverside Walk

Joe Steffen will lead a 2.5 hour, 4.6 mile walk through a suburb designed by the landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed New York's Central Park. We will walk past houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, William Le Baron Jenny, and other well-known architects, following this route. (If you went on the River Forest walk, Riverside is a different town, so this is a different walk.) We will walk even if it is raining, so bring an umbrella or poncho. Please do not bring your dog.
Note: This walk starts at 11 AM, not the usual 10 AM, to match the Metra schedule.

Directions: Metra: Take the Metra BNSF Line to the Riverside station.
Driving: Take the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) to the Harlem exit off of the left expressway lane. Go south about 3 miles to Burlington St. which is just before the railroad tracks. Turn west and go about ¾ mile to Longcommon Rd. Go south one block to the Riverside train station, where there is free parking.

Joe, so sorry, left oak park at 10:40 and had to turn back--traffic on Harlem completely blocked by what appeared to be (just south of cermack) a stopped freight train. Next time will leave MUCH earlier. Jonathan

I plan on driving, can I still park in the lot or are the streets free to park on?

Dated a man who lived in Riverside for 13 years. I always did the driving. Know Riverside well. Very unique town, one of only two like it in the whole country.
