Chicago Dancing Festival

It's that time of  year again--the Chicago Dancing Festival!  Join us at the 8th annual Chicago Dancing Festival FREE at Pritzker Pavilion! This has become an annual tradition, so don't miss out on this FREE night of dance with at least 7 companies from all over the country (about half Chicago) including Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street, and the Washington Ballet. This event usually gets over 100 people, joining thousands of others in the audience. We will be sitting on the lawn, so bring a picnic and something to sit on. Performance will be projected on a large screen the lawn, so we will be able to see everything. Here is the link:
http://www.chicagodancingfestival.com/2014-season

Feel free to bring friends, family, acquaintances, random strangers--the more the merrier. Just make sure to RSVP with number of guests so I know how many people to expect.  Please RSVP if you plan to attend and remove your RSVP if you sign up but can no longer attend.

Show starts at 7:30. Meet at the cow sculpture outside the Chicago Cultural Center, Washington Street side, 78 E. Washington St., at 6:00, we will depart for the pavilion at 6:15. This year I WILL NOT be taking phone calls because it is too difficult to explain where we are on the lawn, so please arrive at the Cultural Center by 6:15 if you want to join our group.  Otherwise you are welcome to sit wherever you wish or look for us--we are usually toward the front of the lawn in the center.

If you are looking for a great picnic option, check out Brown's Chicken in Millennium Station, down the stairs next to the Cultural Center, Randolph St. side.  It is in Armand's Pizza, so you can get pizza and chicken in the same place. If you pick it up on your way to the meetup, it should still be hot when you get to the pavilion. http://www.brownschicken.com/ Enjoy!

Hope to see you there!

The ground was soggy but it didn't rain--not the most comfortable Dancing Festival but probably least attended. I've never seen the lawn that empty. The show was really good but the last piece dragged a little. It started 15 min late, which is unusual, so it ended at 9:45. Thanks to everyone who made it out on a rainy day.

We normally sit toward the front of the lawn in the center. I will have a green beach blanket and I will be wearing a meetup button. If you can't meet at the Cultural Center we will be on the lawn starting at 6:30. If you can't find us, sit wherever and enjoy the show! We'll catch you next time.

I was informed that balloons are illegal because they get caught in trees, bushes, etc. But I will try to find a banner of some sort. There was a demand for it at the last Pritzker thing I organized but I need to figure out where to find one. Will keep you posted.
