If you've read the book Loving Frank
, we will be going past the Edward Cheney house. I have information about many of the houses, and we will briefly stop to look at them, so expect the walk to take about two hours.Directions:
If you drive, take the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) to the Harlem exit off of the left expressway lane, go north about 1 mile and turn right on Lake Street. Turn left at Forest Avenue (the 2nd stoplight) and park in the parking garage. The visitor center is located at street level under the parking garage.
If you take the CTA Green Line, allow about 30 minutes to get here from downtown Chicago. Go north one block to Lake Street and follow the directions above.
You can also take the 8:40 a.m. Metra Union Pacific District West Line train to the Oak Park station.
If you arrive after we have departed, call Joe's cell phone[masked] to find out where we are.
Email Joe with any questions about this walk.
Check this website about an hour before the walk for possible weather cancellation.
