Joe Steffen will be leading a 2.3 mile walk through the new Central Station residential neighborhood, the Prairie Avenue Landmark District, and the site of the infamous Levee, as described in the book Sin in the Second City
. We will follow this route: http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=063FF45B-F636-3368-FBF7DD8BBBBADF0B&success=1
Afterwards, we can eat lunch, look at the work of local artisans, and listen to music at the Bash on Wabash Festival: http://www.greatersouthloop.org/bash.html
This is one of the nicer street festivals because it's not crowded and has tables with shade umbrellas.Directions:
Take the CTA Blue, Green, Orange, or Red Line to Roosevelt; the Metro Electric train to Roosevelt; or one of many CTA buses. See "Plan a trip" on the CTA homepage: http://www.transitchicago.com/
