Announcing a new Meetup for Windy City Explorers!

What: South Loop Walk & Bash on Wabash Festival

When: September 5,[masked]:00 AM

Where:
Michigan Ave. & Roosevelt Road
1200 S. Michigan Ave.
Chicago, IL 60605

Joe Steffen will be leading a 2.3 mile walk through the new Central Station residential neighborhood, the Prairie Avenue Landmark District, and the site of the infamous Levee, as described in the book Sin in the Second City. We will follow this route: http://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=063FF45B-F636-3368-FBF7DD8BBBBADF0B&success=1
Afterwards, we can eat lunch, look at the work of local artisans, and listen to music at the Bash on Wabash Festival: http://www.greatersouthloop.org/bash.html
This is one of the nicer street festivals because it's not crowded and has tables with shade umbrellas.

Directions: Take the CTA Blue, Green, Orange, or Red Line to Roosevelt; the Metro Electric train to Roosevelt; or one of many CTA buses. See "Plan a trip" on the CTA homepage: http://www.transitchicago.com/
If you arrive after we have departed, call Joe's cell phone[masked] to find out where we are.

Email Joe with any questions about this walk.
Check this website about an hour before the walk for possible weather cancellation.
