("Paumanok" - the original Indian name for Long Island)
Paumanok Winery has been nominated this year by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as the "American Winery of the Year". This year is the 30th anniversary of the winery. Here are Charles Massoud, originally from Lebanon, and his wife Ursula, originally from Germany, and their children when they first planted their vineyards.
Charles himself will be giving us a tour of their vineyard. We will then "wake up" with a special "Grand Vintage Flight" of their very best wines.
Macari Vineyard is more than just grapes. The vineyard
is also home to a herd of Texas Longhorns, goats, horses and lots of wildlife. One of the Macari Family (who has her WSET Diploma) will give us a tour of the vineyard and talk to us about their wines.
Bedell Cellars has been long known as one of if not the best red wine producer on Long Island. Its Merlot was the first New York State wine served at a Presidential Inauguration. It has been hailed as a "world class" winery and its tasting room was chosen as one of the 25 best tasting rooms in America by Wine Enthusiast. In addition to tasting their wines we will have a tour of the winery with one of their Assistant Winemakers.
