Grilling. And Wines

We'll be grilling. We'll be suggesting 10 different varietals to try, with some emphasis on German whites. Last month was a success. A few highlights, besides for the yummy Vinho Verde: a Hermitage Blanc by Betts and Scholl. A delightfully crisp Aligote from France. And a 1996 Rioja. There was on Pinot Grigio that wasn't so good, but aside from that, most of us were quite pleased.

We'll email once we've decided the varietals. As always, you can bring what you wish if it doesn't strike your fancy.

If you can't bring a wine, RSVP $20 in your posting. It allows us to purchase wines that are a bit more expensive and less likely to try for yourself. We've previously purchased some really remarkable wines when people collaborate. Please bring an appetizer or a dish to grill. However, I will be purchasing a couple steaks, sausages and scallops, so if you tell me I'll also buy for you

We have a few opportunities on the horizon. This includes sailing; an improv comedy group; and an 80's cover band. Let me know what you think - they all seem like a lot of fun.

The wine was fabulous and so was all the food. It was a feast to be remembered. This was my first time at this meet up and I really had a good time. The people of the group were very gracious.

Another great wine meetup. The wines and grilled food were excellent, but I thought the home made salads and tomato tart stole the show.

Everything was perfect, the company, the food, the educational part and of course the drinking part of the wines. It was a beautiful evening with a conversant crowd. BRAVO!!

The food was excellent, both the homemade appetizers and the grilled food. The variety of wines was overwhelming, fair to very good quality, plenty to go around and to suit all tastes.

Another lovely event with an interesting assortment of wines. This round had some really good bottles which I hope to find on my own. It was fun seeing those I hadn't seen in quite a while and meeting new members. I'm looking forward to the next event. Thanks again, Gawain! :-)

I'm bringing my wild rice salad and a German style wine. Count me in for grilling- steaks, scallops, whatever!

Hi All-This sounds like fun! I'll bring a wine and count me in for the scallops!

On the horizon - improv group and 80's cover band sound great. Sailing, drinking wine, weather/wind concerns, inexperienced sailors and the mechanics of putting that all together with firm advance commitments make that sound less desirable.

Hi friends! This should be fun. As usual, we will try to get some sparkling wine for the beginning while we uncork the wines. Sparkling wine $1 a glass (the palate cleanser). If you want me to purchase oysters - they are $2 a shell. I'll get them from Eastchester Fish Gourmet.
