Superbowl Chili Cookoff

  • February 2, 2014 · 1:30 PM
  • Cindy & Jerry's

UPDATE:  YES!! Seahawks are going to the Super bowl!  I understand there will be parties everywhere, so keep your RSVP up to date.    It would also be great if people could work out carpools or even set up to meet at the Columbia Bank on the corner and then carpool from there.

Are you ready for some football!!!!  It's time again for our annual Superbowl Party and Chili Cookoff.  This year Jerry and I will be buying a keg of Manny's and having a donation jar to help cover the cost of the keg.  If you don't like beer, feel free to bring your own.

We will be watching the game on 3 TV's.  Living room will have a 50", family room 65" and 9ft=94" in the theater room.

We will also be having 2 or 3 betting boards to add to the fun.  A $2.00 board and $5.00 which we will be starting the $5.00 board this Monday night so it fills up.

For the chili cookoff, we will need 6-8 people to bring a batch of their favorite chili.  This can be beef, chicken, vegetarian, chili verde or any variety that you think will win the contest.  We will vote for our favorite chili and winner will win a prize.

Here are a few other ideas what we will need.

* baked potatoes

* desserts

* hot dogs & buns

* corn bread or other breads

* appetizers

* anything else that sounds yummy

So come join us, have some fun and cheer on our Seahawks!!!

    It will be close to 2:00 when I can get there -- anyone interested in carpooling from the bank at that time?

    February 1, 2014

    • Jill

      Hi Susan! Yes, I would be interested. There is also a huge parking lot across the street at the now closed Summit Market. Shall we meet there? Jill,[masked]

      1 · February 1, 2014

    • Cindy

      Jill, they have barricades now across the entrances, so you can't park there. Most of the businesses by the bank are closed.

  • Gretchen S.

    Hey, I just bought a bottle of 12th Man wine at Tacoma Boys in Puyallup and will be bringing it tomorrow. They have both red and white but only a few bottles left because it is so popular. Thought I'd mention in case anyone else wants to snag one. Might be a collector's item some day...if you dont drink it. Go Hawks!

    Cindy, I was going to bring corn bread, but it sounds like you may have enough. Is there anything else you want some one to bring?

    January 29, 2014

    1 · January 29, 2014

      1 · January 28, 2014

    Bringing cornbread... have never had it crumble... :-) It will be a mildly spicy and cheesy variety.

    2 · January 27, 2014

  • Jeff H.

    You guys are making corn bread too hard.

    1 · January 26, 2014

    • Grace

      Corn bread is simple to make, yet how many times do you try to eat it, and it crumbles off the fork from being too dry before it gets to into your mouth. Sounds like we've got some specialty recipes showing up. Btw, not to put pressure on you Jeff ;)
