Weekend Cruise on the Grand Princess ~ Vancouver to Seattle

Party Travelers! - It’s that time of year again for the May repositioning cruise! This is our 4th multi-Meetup Cruise Event!! Great for 1st time cruisers as an intro to cruising and veterans as a super fun way to party, dine and hang out with other travelers. This time we have the option of an overnight, 3-night, and/or 4-night cruise, your choice! (Click hyperlinks for info or to RSVP for the other cruise.)

There's a lot of info below, read all the details before asking questions. A Passport or Enhanced Driver License is required for this trip (check with cruise line or customs for other options). ~Claudette

Why do an overnight cruise? This is a great way to dip a toe into the water, without a big investment of time and money. We'll board in time for dinner, maybe even a late lunch, and have breakfast on board when we dock in Seattle - and the food tends to be GREAT. While the food is a big part of cruising, the night life, dancing and other activities are tons of fun. Once in your cabin you'll find a list of all the events and activities awaiting you. Check out the activities available on the last overnight cruise we did in 2010: Cruise Activities-sample. And don't forget your swim suit - there are pools and hot tubs to lounge in and around.

Act fast - These May cruises tend to book up quickly. Guests are welcome, the more the merrier!!

Book cruise at http://bit.ly/BonVoyage-DTL for best rates and book with the group. You'll also get other benefits like flight insurance, concierge service and more. If not a Preferred Customer or Registered Member, click the X next to Login to continue.

We’re a little under 3 weeks away for this cruise and it doesn’t look like anyone’s booked yet.
I’ve also sent a reminder email to the group so hopefully more people will RSVP. So far we have 12 people signed up in 7 Meetup Groups. Looking for a cabinmate? See the section about that in the event details.

Actually Steve, that's partially true. If you're on a cruise, like the Baja Cruise I mentioned, you only need a DL and birth cert. But for this overnight cruise where we'll be "driving" across the boarder to get to Vancouver, the land crossing requires at least an Enhanced DL. If we were doing Seattle - Vancouver - Seattle, the DL and birth cert would work. Clear as mud? I've(re-)added a hyperlink for those wanting to look more into this. :)

The operative words used were, "crossing the Canadian border. Customs and Immigration website is very specific for documentation as I mention above. I took the Seattle to Vancover cruise, I had to clear US Customs prior to getting on the ship. They specifically stated the only valid documentation, it didn't say you can get away with Driver Lic and birth cert. Once in Canada, same thing, had to clear Canadian customs, and same signs were visible. Now here is the kicker. As a US citizen you can re-enter the US with just a driver lic and birthcertificate, because you are a US citizens. However, you set of red flags with CIS, how did you get into Canada without proper documentation. You can give them your excuse but count on follow investigation. Then CIS will go back to the cruise line and question them. If you are a naturalized US Citizen, count on a separate group of red flags to go up. Bottom line, why take the chance. So easy to get enhanced driver lic.

Eva... we will smuggle you on... Roger.. this sounds intriguing.. especially due to the fact that you wont leave me stranded on the street corner in BC this time..

Oh yes we will, if you insist to hit every bar from the boat to the bus. Roger and I have a plan. When we get to the border, we will both point to you and yell, Al-Qaida, and since you are a Turk...hee, hee...

Hi all! I'm your host from Bon Voyage Meetup for this multi-Meetup event and Roger was kind enough to post this for me here. I've gone through comments to answer a few questions. If I've missed any, please let me know, but I think I've covered it all. If you haven't read the details yet, please do. When you're ready to book, do so at http://bit.ly/BonVoyage-DTL so you'll be with the group. If you haven't done one of these cruises before, it's a blast!

Now Roger, you trying to be a bad influence? Trying to research all this and can't seem to find this particular cruise. Don't have enough time off to do 3-4 days unfortunately so this overnight one will work best for me.

There was an article in today's Seattle Times about repositioning cruises. The main point is that they're cheaper. http://seattletimes.com/html/travel/2023057021_cruisesrepositioningxml.html

I'll just be returning from a trip so if someone would be so kind and do the math for me. How much would all this cost for one person, approximately. I'm at work and my brain hurts when it comes to math. Okay, thanks. I've never been on a cruise so I'm intrigued.

    • Roger

Janice, cheapest with roomie would be about $100 including bus fare up there. It's a great deal.
