Wine Tasting and Food Pairing

  • Nov 16, 2012 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This wine tasting is only for those who are serious about learning to pair wine and food. You will be required to do some research and give a presentation on the wine you select and the food you pair it with.

We will have two groups tasting wine. One group will be tasting Zinfandel's and the other group will be tasting Chardonnay. Each group will be limited to 10 people. Once each group has tasted their wines we will then mix groups and share our thoughts.

Each group will taste one wine and the food brought to pair with it at a time. The person that brought the wine will tell the group why they selected it, describe the wine and explain why they selected the food to go with it. The group will then discuss the pairing and make notes. After all of the wines are tasted we can combine both groups to discuss our over all thoughts.

If you would like to participate please put yourself on the wait list and tell us which wine you select and what food you are pairing it with. We want to avoid duplications and make sure we have 10 people in each group. We will then confirm with you and move you up from the wait list to attending.

Not familar with the wines? There are several places you can go to get information. A couple of suggestions are Wildside Wines in Tacoma and Corkscrew Cellars in Puyallup, both excellent wine stores and very knowledgeable.

We look forward to a fabulous evening of food and wine and good company!

Ok, the Poobah needs some assistance please. As I read this, you can either pick Zinfendel or Chardonnay...is that correct? So I can't say a Cab and Rack of Lamb? Has to be Zinfendel? If it does, then I am going to do an Old Vine Zin with Copper River Salmon.

We are going to suggest a price range for the wines to be within $10 - $20 range. Hope that works for everyone!

I'll bring a zin and thinking of the pairing. Just curious, is there a price range for the wine?

I chose the Zin and Jeff chose the Chardonnay. Bob has also selected the Chardonnay and will pair it with stuffed squid (a cold appetizer, stuffed with shrimp, cilantro, nuts (sounds fabulous by the way). So we have 9 more openings in Zin's and 8 in Chardonnay. Please let me know what wine you have selected and your appetizer and I will move you up. from the wait list.

    Thank you!
