Happy New Year!

Hey Sports Fans,

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! We will hit new highs and endeavors in 2013! 2012 was a banner year for us. We now are sitting at 1163 members; we added 540 new members for 2012, and held 109 Meetups. I am told by Corporate Meetup that we are the fastest growing Meetup in the Puget Sound.

2012 was also the first year we had road trip Meetups. The first was the Walla Walla Wine and Balloon festival; the second being the Aloha Meetup, in Hawaii and hosted by our offshore Organizer Nellie "Madam Pele". Our first road trip this year will be next month, the Hangover 3 Meetup in Vegas, hosted by Ute "Oh Tay". Following that event we will have our third annual Ides of March Meetup, Toga! First to tell me what the date is for the Ides of March, gets a free drink. Another if you can tell me the significance - this is only for new members...because I hope by now our members who have been around for a bit, should know the details.

We have 10 Organizers: Angelo, Cherie, Cindy L., Doug, Kristi B, Nellie, Roger, Sharon and Ute. The next time you see an organizer at one of our Meetups, please thank them for all their efforts. As a side note, Organizers are not the only ones who can suggest/come up with new Meetups. If anyone has ideas for possible Meetups, send the recommendations my way.

Oh Tay, now for the requisite "Lets work on this" subject: RSVP's. All are RSVP's are equal; however, some RSVP's are more equal then others. First to tell me what movie/book that comes up from gets a drink. Let me say up front, not attending an event after you RSVP'd and did not change your status, WILL NOT result in you being burned at the Stake! This is very common guidance, if your plans change and you will not be able to attend, then please change your status, if the time, and the ability to do so are available. If not, no worries. That applies to large venues that can easily accomodate our numbers, and there is no wait list.  Do keep in mind for larger Meetups, which we are starting to have more and more, the restaurant/bar will be bringing in more staff to handle the number attending. Right now we have 1163 worth of buying power. Most venues around town tend to give us extras because of how many of us there are, and we bring in good business. Our ability to get the "extras" will diminish if we have a larger then average of no-shows. Now for the RSVP that is "more equal than others" Meetups that have a limited venue and a wait list has been established. For these types of Meetups please pay extra attention to your RSVP and if your status changes, please update your status. Most of my Organizers will send out an email a day or two prior to the event to remind folks to check their RSVP's. Enough said on that subject.

Again, wishing all a very Happy New Year's and see you at a Meetup soon.
