Another wine tour! We're on a roll. We've done the Umpqua and Lower Willamette Valley areas and now we're going to move it north to Salem. On the schedule are four wineries: Eola Hills, Chateau Bianca, Honeywood and Orchard Heights. The wineries were chosen based on a fairly even distribution of reds and whites and some alternative options. Honeywood particularly specializes in a lot of fruit wines. There should be something for everyone along the way. After we've done these four, there are a number of others right along Hwy. 22 that we'll pass by and can try if we have time. Please bring cash for tasting fees and a picnic lunch. Usually fees run anywhere from $5-10 for a flight or certain number of tastes per winery but most do free tastings. Thanksgiving weekend is a popular weekend for wine touring!
Let's all plan to meet at 9am in the parking lot by ShopKo on Coburg Rd. We'll take I-5 north to Hwy. 22 in Salem and that's the area the wineries are in. Plan to be home that evening probably by 7 at the latest. Let's carpool if we can- riders need to chip in for gas. If you need a ride, please ask. If a couple people would like to volunteer as drivers who either don't drink or drink VERY lightly, that would be helpful. Please RSVP. If for some reason you change your mind about attending, please change your RSVP accordingly so we can have an accurate count.
This will also be cross-posted with the wine meetup group so if you belong to both, please RSVP on only one. This is going to be the best one yet!
