Announcing a new Meetup for East Bay Wine Lovers Meetup!

What: 3 Day Picnic in Golden Gate Park for the Hardley Strictly BlueGrass Festival

When: Friday, October 1,[masked]:00 AM through Sunday, October 3, 2010

Price: $1.00 per person

Where: Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park
John F Kennedy Dr & Middle Dr E
San Francisco, CA 94122

We've been looking forward to getting to this for years and have our hotel arranged. We'll be riding our bikes from our hotel 3 blocks from Union Square (around the corner from where I used to live) with our wine back pack(s) each day and we would enjoy meeting up with Wine Lovers from Sacramento area as well as some new faces from the East Bay Wine Lovers group. If you come for one day, parking or transportation into the park is fairly decent although will be pretty crowded since the event is free. If you need recommendations for hotels feel free to contact me, but you could bid on a place through priceline.com, although to make a wise bid, Google "bid on hotel rooms" and learn a bit. Also booking.com or tripadvisor.com is good. Remember parking is often an extra. Typically $20/day around the Union Square area, but other deals can be madewink

It's Euro style with plenty of walking, food, and exercise, that makes vacationing in the city a wonderful adventure and in Fall it's the best time of the year in the city when the fog is gone, the air is warm, and it hardly ever rains. For those coming from Sacramento just for a day I recommend BART from EL CERRITO DEL NORTE (see satellite maps.google.com for easy visual - exits on both sides of Hwy 80 right to BART parking lot) and then get off Bart in S.F. at the Powell Street Station. From Powell Street and Market Street, take Muni Bus #5 to 25th Avenue and Fulton Street. (Probably a solid hour if your able to jump right on to the bus from BART - so bring your readingwink

The ones I've emboldened are ones I plan on seeing and thus getting there around 10AM to secure a good spot at the main stage.
