Announcing our first official meetup of the year!
The polls are in, and one of the definite favorites was a BYOB of a certain type (region, grape type, or price). So, I thought we could do a BYOB of South American Wines.
Bring a bottle of your favorite wine from anywhere in South America. I would suggest $10-20 dollar range, but bring whatever you would like to share with everyone. Perhaps you found a gem that is too good to keep private! I'm sure there will be a lot of good Argentinean Malbecs in the mix, but don't limit yourself to just that one varietal. Perhaps you have a Chilean Merlot from Rapel Valley, an Uruguayan Tannat, or a Cabernet Sauvignon from Maipo. And don't think you need to bring reds only. There are good Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay regions in both Argentina and Chile.
So, you have lots of choices, the joy of this type of meetup is finding things you never would have thought to try yourself. Hopefully we will come away from this finding some new wines to enjoy.
This event is at the Nose Dive tasting room, so space is limited. There is a second meetup happening at the end of the month that will be larger and will be a broader BYOB event, so don't be discouraged if you don't get into this one, you'll only have to wait two weeks longer!
The $15 charge is to cover the costs of the room and the hors d'oeuvres as usual. Remember, this is a tasting, not a drinking. The snacks are to give us some food in our stomachs, as this could be up to 20 wines we taste. Do not be afraid to dump and spit!
