We are truly privileged to have Black Coyote Wines present a vertical tasting of their reserve Napa cabernet sauvignon, in which we taste several vintages of the same wine to see the variation from year to year. Dr. Ernest Bates, a renowned neurosurgeon, founded Black Coyote and had his first vintage in 2000. It has consistently won awards, and in fact, Wine Enthusiast just rated Black Coyote's 2010 (the most current release) at 93 points!
In 2008, Vanessa Robledo, joined Black Coyote as a managing partner. Her great-grandfather was a migrant worker at Christian Brothers, who eventually bought 350 acres to start his own winery, Robledo Family Winery, making Vanessa the fourth generation of a Latino family in the wine industry.
We will meet Vanessa (fingers crossed that Dr. Bates will be able to join us) at 320 South Wine Lounge to taste Black Coyote's 2010 vintage and three vintages of their Library Wines (those kept in the cellar, but no longer for sale): 2005, 2006 and 2008 for only $20.00 payable at the restaurant. Edgar Pourshagh, owner and sommelier, and I will recommend pairing suggestions from the menu, while Vanessa recounts the story of Black Coyote and the wines.
Please don't miss this once in a lifetime event of exceptional Napa cabernet sauvignon.
