Hustlers, Hackers and Hipsters

It has been said that to build a great technology-based business, you need three types: the Hacker (coder), the Hustler, (entrepreneur) and the Hipster, (designer). The SuperMeetup is a about connecting Winnipeg innovation communities: learning together, understanding the skillsets of others in the innovation community and hopefully fostering partnerships that lead to great things. The SuperMeetup is also about recognizing the rapid growth of the Winnipeg meetup group community.

Participating Groups: Ramp Up Manitoba, Ruby, Agile, .NET, WinnipegPHP, Android, Winnipeg.js, WIDA, (IxDA) Winnipeg, Secret Handshake, Winnipeg Idea & Invention Prototyping (AssentWorks)

Amir Barylko, Sr. Solution Architect at MavenThought Inc.

Mike Legary, Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer, Securris

Kevin Guenther, Interdisciplinary designer and illustrator – Business Development Chair, GDC Manitoba

Boris Mann, Talent Scout and Startup Creator, Vancouver, BC

The talks will be of interest to everyone in the room with a focus on connection points between design, entrepreneurship and coding.  The talks should be fairly sophisticated, not shy of jargon, preferably actionable and aspirational in nature for a professional audience.

Supporting groups(confirmed): New Media Manitoba, Innovate Manitoba, GDC Composite Innovation Centre, Startup Winnipeg

Supporting groups(unconfirmed): ACI, CEO, Entrepreneurship Manitoba, The Eureka Project, Futurpreneur, ICTAM, Junior Achievement, LSAM,  Manitoba Technology Accelertor, Red River College, Stu Clark Centre, Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce

Beers afterwards at the King's Head.

Hi Daniel. It's hard to find a time that works for everyone. The organizers of this meetup both have families, so weekday evenings work better than weekends for us. Hopefully you'll be able to attend a few of the weekday meetings. :)

Thanks for sharing your feedback. For a couple of hours on the weekend? For the whole morning? Evening?

A bit off topic but there are a few jobs for Ruby people I've become aware of: The first is with in Calgary (remote OK), a local company doing some financial systems work is looking for a Rails dev, and Canadian Tire Innovations is still looking for a Senior person to help shape the team.

Don't come late. The RampUp Manitoba crew already have 123 folks listed as attending:

    See you tonight!

Not directly related to this meetup, but... :)

If you're interested in governance & technology, you should join us for an‬ Open Democracy meetup this Saturday evening at Cousins Deli on Sherbrook.

    Details here:

    Hope to see you there.
