The acronym DUMBO stands for "Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass" and describes the city's most vibrant new neighborhood, the old industrial district along the Brooklyn Waterfront between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.

One day each month, DUMBO's art galleries stay open late and host receptions and area restaurants and bars often have live music. This usually happens on the first Thursday - hence the name First Thursday Gallery Walk - but because of 4th of July celebrations, this month it happens on July 9th.

And of course bring your camera - the neighborhood has incredible views of downtown Manhattan from the Brooklyn Bridge Park and Brooklyn and Mahnattan Bridges.
