We had so much fun at our first parade and meeting all our new Westie friends! If anyone ever wants to do a Westie meetup in New Jersey, we would love for you to come to our home! Only an hour from the city.

Patricia what is a good day and date for you for the NJ Meetup?

I was thinking sometime in June, when the weather is nice and warm. I am busy with work most of May. What do you think?

      April 16, 2013

  • Janeth

It was very nice, really liked to see other beautiful dogs and their human partners; we went to the Pawty, but the place was crowded and was not easy to interact, we got there really earlier, we missed everyone once the parade was done.

Just got an email from the Tartan Day Parade. They said all dogs and owners are in the 1st division, section 5, west 44th between 5th and 6th. Be there at 1:00. Did anyone else receive this email?

    1 · April 4, 2013

Anyone know where I can purchase doggie "Tams" scottish hats?

    1 · March 10, 2013

  • Debbie Dorfman & Craig A.

Carmine is opting for a tartan scarf. He has declined the coat option.

    1 · February 16, 2013

    • Monica

Some dogs hate to wear clothes although they may object less to clothes that are made for them, because the fit is good. But lots of dogs wear scarves or other stuff. Here is a link to some photos that include a scarf alternative -- a tuxedo or pearl necklace bib. http://www.meetup.com...]

It is a requirement to dress dogs with customs? My dogs have never worn clothes.

    February 16, 2013

    • patricia p.

Oh, not a requirement, Tony, just a cute suggestion. I saw outfits in some pictures.

      2 · February 16, 2013

    • Monica

Some dogs are very dressed up and others are totally naked with everything in between. I created a photo album of some tartan fashions that can be made to order. http://www.meetup.com...]

    To all Parade Goers,
Check out "Custom Canine Clothes" on ebay. Different color plaid coats at reasonable prices.

    1 · February 16, 2013

  • Lisa P.

Curious... Why are cairin terrors not invited to participate in the parade? Does anyone know?

    October 28, 2012

    • Lisa P.

Thank you Lynn, I will tell my friend to sign up. My westie, Milo is best friends with her Carien, Guss. they will have so much fun. Hope to get to meet you at the parade. BTW, Sandy Point...how bad is it out there from Sandy?

      November 5, 2012

    • Monica

They only "allow" Westies and Scotties in the parade, because those are the Scottish breeds that Americans associate with Scotland and the parade organizers are trying to create / promote a brand image. There are many other Scottish dog breeds including some very big dogs like the Scottish Deerhound.

      February 15, 2013

  • patricia p.

Just went on the Tartan Day website, says we must register our Westies for the parade, new revision. Anyone know anything about this?

    December 30, 2012

    • Lisa P.

Yes you have to register. Just go back to the website and sign you and your westie up.

      December 31, 2012

    • Monica

Yes, you register each dog individually. They just want to have an idea of how many dogs to expect.

We will be there! Carmine is excited for his first parade!

I have a male as well. There's another website I found with kilts - I would imagine for both males and females. They are shown at the bottom of the website page, so scroll down: http://www.westieresc...

For Janet and Lulu - This tartan outfit was posted in my Westie Facebook group. I believe they also sell a plaid bow tie. http://www.daisysdoggieduds.com/#!/~/product/category=438542&id=[masked]

I am in a contest to win a free cruise. I had to make a photo that represents the slogan a Diva like no other. Our beautiful westie sat through four hours and 300 photos until I got the one I liked. Please visit www.msccruisesdivina.com and click on cast your vote. The photo is a couple in a hot tub with a cute westie on a pillow next to them. The name is Ann Morin. I really need your vote! Happy thanksgiving

It is a Scottish parade-- Tartan Day-- lots of bagpipe bands. The dogs are a category of marchers.

    1 · October 26, 2012

    • Susan

Definitely. I'm sure the other Scotties would welcome yours as they're always outnumbered by the Westies.
