Marina del Rey to Lunada Bay in Palos Verdes

  • March 10, 2013 · 10:00 AM

ENERGETIC BEG/INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED HILL GROUPS: The scenery on this ride is striking and worth every huff and puff to get there! Starting in Marina del Rey we'll head to Redondo Beach and take a nice easy pace up the hill to Lunada Bay market which is about 35 miles round trip. This ride is not appropriate for beginner level riders though energetic beginners who are fit and up to the challenge are welcome to try. You should be able to keep an average speed of 10-12 mph on the flats. Time required for this ride depends on level of the group and if there is a lunch stop (which there normally is). ETA for return is between 3:30 and 4 p.m.

Note: Optional turn around in Redondo Beach for those who don't want to go up hill.

WE WILL MEET AT DOCK 52 IN MARINA DEL REY AT 10:00 A.M. and ride out promptly at 10:30 a.m. Please allow enough time to unload your bike and prepare for the ride. FYI PARKING FREE and we can stay all day. Look for us on the FIRST ROW OF PARKING (you can park anywhere in the lot, we will simply meet up in the first row by Jill's Jeep Cherokee.

Please ensure that you are in good health before participating and understand that there is risk involved in biking on road or on bike path and group rides. You can get hurt. i had a great time-- was a lot of fun coaching Sharon, and reminded me that the only way to get better is to ride and if you ride alone it is not as fun. So it was a great day for both of us!

Ben is right, Jill is the best. She gave me the encouragement to go three times as far as I thought I could, taught me the importance of carbs on those high energy days, and took the time to review the use of gears with me personally. In a world when no one has time Jill made time to help me pull it together. Jill I salute you!!!

Jill, you are a good organizer and I honor you for helping Sharon with a better choice of gear and for encouraging her to complete the ride. Good job.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
