Madison Women's Social Meetup Message Board › March of Dimes - Chef's Auction volunteer opportunity
I will be volunteering with the March of Dimes Chef's Auction coming up Thursday, November 15th. There are several needs for the day of and evening of the event. Please see the list below and let me know if you're interested in helping for any of the shifts.
1. Set up: 8 a.m. - 12p.m. or 1 – 6 p.m.
b. 8 volunteers for silent auction set up, super silent, décor arrangement and other misc. tasks as needed
2. Registration: 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
a. 8 volunteers needed. Responsible for checking people in through system, getting them registered and issue bid numbers. Training will start at 4:45 p.m.
3. Super Silent: 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
a. 4 out-going people. Serving as pseudo-auctioneer and floating in front of the super silent auction stages. Responsibilities include drawing people in, talking up packages and explaining the super silent auction process to guests. Training will start at 5 p.m.
4. Chef Liaison: 5 - 7:30 p.m.
a. 6 volunteers needed. Responsibilities include walking around chatting with Chef’s making sure they have everything they need. Serve as a liaison between Chef’s and Monona Terrace. Make sure Terrace wait staff is clearing trays with dirty dishes on a regular basis. Training will start at 4:45 p.m.
5. Fund the Mission and Live Auction Spotters: 7:45 - 8:45 p.m.
a. 14 Spotters needed. Responsibilities include being outgoing, loud and getting people excited to bid money. Would “spot” donors as they raise their paddles to bid and signal to auctioneer there is another bidder. Very fast past! Training will start at 5:30 p.m.
6. Fund the Mission and Live Auction Runners: 7:45 – 8:45 p.m.
a. 6 runners. Responsible for collecting final bid numbers after each package is sold and each level of FTM is complete and “running” them to the check out area to be processed. Training will start at 6 p.m.
7. Fund the Mission Recorders: 8 – 8:30 p.m.
a. 6 recorders. Keep a tally of each FTM level and pass results to the runners. Training will start at 6 p.m.
8. Stage hand: 6 - 7:30 p.m. or 7:30 – 9 p.m.
a. 2 people needed. Will be working with staff to make sure auctioneer, emcee, and other speakers are on time and announcements are made when needed. Training will start at 5:30 p.m.
9. Check Out: 8 – 10 p.m.
a. Give packages to donors who bought items, charging credit cards (if needed), etc. Training will start at 7:30 p.m.
10. Clean Up: 9 – 10 p.m.
