Exercise - yes, I love it and miss it when I don't do it! ZUMBA, circuit training, race-walking, running, weight lifting, all necessary to keep me sane. After grad school, I made up my mind to lose 30 pounds and lost 60 in one year! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE movies where women run the show. Love Broadway shows. Love discovering great little inexpensive restaurants where the food is so wonderful it prompts my husband (a gourmet cook) to say - wow, I couldn't make that! (I don't cook anything but breakfast unless I can nuke it!
Movies that women love. NY SPAS that don't cost a fortune! Restaurants that are not so loud, so you can hear a conversation. Definitely off-Broadway plays. Central Park walks, or any walking group that my older friends can't do. Good Zumba classes that are held in the morning before work.
I'm a great listener - which is hard to do when you're younger and think you know it all. I've learned the hard way that I DON'T know it all, and it amazes me when younger women ask me for advice. I think they figure I have lived "so much longer" that I must have made the same mistakes (and they're right - more mistakes than they can imagine!) My friends always ask me to makeover their wardrobes because I can turn even 90s business suits and Walmart scarves into distinctive confident looks.
I am passionate about my health and that includes making as much time as possible to have fun with and mentor my friends - especially those who are going through many transitions.
I’m a management consultant, marketing exec, enterprise leader and NYU educator. After a series of decimating job choices, I earned my MBA in my mid-50s, then published a strategy guide for women 40+ who are sick of being called cougars, crones and cobras. Started and now run The DARE-Force Corporation (www.thedareforce.com), for women over 40 who want to mash the myths, bash the biases and slam the stereotypes that mature women are “over.” AS IF!!!
If Bette Midler and Richard Simmons had had a love child adopted by Joan Rivers, she would be me! With more energy than two twenty-somethings, I have a great sense of humor, love my work (still!) and love life!
