Hi Girlfriends,

I'd like to share some fascinating identity fraud and security information to protect you and your information.

One of my good girlfriends is a President of an ad agency, this is is Advertising Week, and she hosted a session about
"Truth & Privacy" in advertising and as part of a panel discussion had speakers talking about "companies crossing the boundaries about
keeping consumer information"

The keynote speaker was Frank Abagnale, the man the movie "Catch me if you Can" with Leonardo DiCaprio (was based on his life)
who I met after his speech and we all had drinks together.

Frank was the person, who from 16 years old to 21 years old impersonated a Pan Am airline pilot, a Doctor, and an Attorney,
flew to 26 countries with his Pan Am identity and cashed $2.5 million in forged checks.  For the last 36 years he works for the FBI
in security and fraud identity, has been married for 36 years and has 3 sons, one of which now works for the FBI.

At the end of his talk, he talked about current personal security problems and how regular everyday people get ripped off
by people who sit all day at their computer and just get people's identities and steal their accounts.

Here are a few interesting highlights:

There are 3 types of paper shredders -- 2 types, even though you shred you credit card bill or bank statement into little strips of paper, someone who
does this can put back that shredded paper sheet in 3 to 5 hours.
The only type of shredder that cannot be put back together at all, even by the FBI is called a "micro-cut" shredder.  They cost the same
as the other ones.  So all the "personal" information you shred by the 2 other types of shredders is the same as you not shredding it at all.

This is good to know for your kids or grandchildren.  If they have a face book account with a photo of their face, rather than a side pose, or
them riding a horse, etc, and a cell phone, there is a type of software called "creeper" which enables anyone to locate your child or
grandchild at any time.  They can actually pull up the street where they are standing having their cell phone with them or inside their backpack.

If someone wants to get information about you, all they have to do is take a photo on their phone as you come into their view.
From that they use facial recognition software to get your name, if on face book, your birthday, the city where you were born, and they
can track down banking information.  The software is called Pitpat, they call it pitpat fraud.  So don't put your birthday or where you were born on Facebook.

here is information about the software to identify you from a photo taken on their phone.

Augmented Identity

A new app makes it possible to identify people and learn about them just by pointing your phone.
