Spiritual Poetry Meetup

Let’s get together again to share spiritual poetry, light refreshments, and talk about what the poems mean to us. Bring a book of poems or choose a poem from the many books we have on hand – you can read a poem, share copies of a poem, or just listen and chat – whatever feels comfortable. This is a relaxed and welcoming space to meet and get to know others who share a love for poetry and for that which connects us more deeply with spiritual life. Feel free to bring a small snack or finger food if you wish. Looking forward to seeing you there! (P.S. For the poets among us, we are grateful to you for bringing your insights and heart-knowledge to our group, and for understanding that this is a place to share others' poems, not our own.)

What a fun meet-up -- the warm and animated discussion and people's willingness to share was wonderful. The poems people read included Blake's "A Little Boy Lost," Dierdre O'Connor's "Translation," Naomi Shihab Nye's "Kindness," a couple of very different poems by Rumi ("The Lame Goat," and "The Chance of Humming"), and William Ernest Henley's "Invictus." Very inspirational! We had people come from more than one meetup group, and it was great to meet new people and see friends from past meetings. I'm looking forward to getting together again May 18th!

Thanks for the list. I woke up today thinking about our conversation on translation and Ashooks comment about fixing. I had a revelation that fixing not only meant improving but trying to make the meaning specific, fixed in point, rather than open for interpretation. It gave me great insight into other areas. Had a great time. Thank you for your warm style of leadership.
