The 30th French Quarter Festival will take place from April 11-14, 2013, beginning on April 11th with "Locals Lagniappe Day" at Jackson Square and the Riverfront, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and then the 30th Anniversary Gala at Antoine's at 8:00 p.m. with food, drinks, and live music (Gala ticket included in the price). There are too many things to list here, but you can check out the schedule of about 800 bands, food venders, and activities on this website: http://www.fqfi.org/frenchquarterfest/
We will be staying in a suite that sleeps four, walking distance from everything! I made the reservation for six nights many months in advance because it is always hard to get a reservation during one of the most popular events in New Orleans. Locals have told me this is their favorite festival. I have been to New Orleans several times, and I know many good places to eat for lunch and dinner (there is a kitchen in our suite for those who want to have breakfast). I have made a few dinner reservations because they were starting to fill up during this busy week - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9th at August Restaurant; 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10th at Herbsaint; 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12th at Commander's Palace; and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13th at Clancy's. We will probably have lunch at the festival vendor booths, or at some of the good places I know that are nearby. We will be going to the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues, right near where we are staying (included in the price). Sunday evening will be the grand finale of the festival, complete with fireworks! This trip is for women only, and there will be extensive walking. Let me know if you have any questions. I hope you can join us!
