 February's Meeting Topic:

Subject: Eating & Living Healthy

for Success & Energy

Speaker: Michelle Kooi, Radiant Life Wellness

Michelle will be speaking to us about sugar addiction, what it is, and the hidden sugars in our foods.  She will also be giving us pointers on eating and living healthy so that we have positive energy to attract success!  She will be sharing 10 tips for eating for energy.

Michelle Kooi is owner of Radiant Life Wellness and helps men and women ages 35-55 experiencing life transitions learn how to make self-care a priority in their lives. She is passionate about food, health, nature and life.  She believes diets don't work; that we need to eat for our own unique bodies; that many chronic diseases can be halted or even reversed with a clean, whole foods diet. and that health is about more than what you put in and on your body.  It is also about how you feed your heart, mind and spirit.  She thinks you are never too old to feel and look your best, and doesn't buy into the belief that you start falling apart after 40.

Michelle spent years suffering with chronic fatigue and more recently adrenal fatigue, trying different diets, supplements, and care.  She wants others to experience the joy of eating right for your body, feeling good in your body, treating yourself well, and enjoying life with the energy extreme self-care brings. She leads seasonal detox programs and works one-on-one with clients in life changing health and lifestyle coaching sessions.  She also offers workshops and teleclasses, and gluten-free and dairy-free cooking classes.  Michelle recently graduated in 2013 from the Institute of Integrated Nutrition, holds Bachelors degrees in both Accounting and Journalism, and is a recovering CPA.  She is writing a health guide/cookbook, a book on transformation and overcoming adversities, and is active in the community.

Clothing Tips for Business Headshots
by Kimball Nelson Photography

Colors: Busy patterns and too bright colors are not appropriate for formal portraiture. They call attention away from the face and distract from the overall quality of the portrait. Solid dark and neutral colors are the most flattering. It is preferable to have no logos on shirts (unless something is planned that way). In general, dark colors slim and light colors add weight. Cool colors (blues, greens, purples) and neutrals (black, gray, and white) add emphasis to the face and make it appear warmer and more pleasing in your portraits.

Types of clothing:

Long sleeves work better than short sleeves. Collared shirts look great in professional portraits. Jackets in solid colors work very well.  Do you have a color that looks good on you?  Wear it!
