Intro to Using The Studio Press Genesis Themes

Join Us For A Beginner's Guide to Genesis Themes With Melanie Adcock.

These StudioPress themes are a great not only beginners but also for well seasoned WordPress users. Genesis Child Themes are built on the Genesis Parent Theme Framework. This approach is different that the typical Wordpress themes where (you should) create your own child theme to ovoid your customizations being overwritten with theme updates. The 7:15 session will cover more advanced customizations of the Genesis Theme that requires some basic knowledge of how to FTP files to your server and how to use Firebug to make changes in CSS. If you want to stay for the second session, you do not need to pay an additional 10.00.

The first portion was approximately at me level, and I gained good exposure to this tool. The second, zip-p-p-p, a bit beyond me, which was to be expected. I wish there were a way to better utilize folks' time based their skill level. Possibly alternate evenings- one evening for beginners and the next meeting for the more advanced.... justs a thought.

This will be my first meetup and not sure of the presentation style. Will we need to have secured the Genesis Framework prior to attending? Will we be working through examples like in a lab? Looking forward to it!!
