Hi WordPressers! WP-SFO is coming back strong in March.
Thanks very much to UStream for generously offering their space for this Meetup!
Thanks also to ParkMe for sponsoring tonight's event. If you are driving, please use ParkMe’s parking maps to help you with parking. You can find parking near UStream by clicking here, or you can use their mobile apps for iPhone and Android.
Austin Gunter (WPEngine) and Hugo Baeta (WordPress.com / Automattic) will be giving a presentation focused on those who are relatively new to WordPress.
Every one has told you WordPress is easy to use, right?
So you decide to use it for your next project. But now you open WordPress and feel completely lost.
"Should I use Posts or Pages for my content? How do they tie with the Menus? I heard you can create Custom Post Types, I should probably use that right?"
Calm down... breathe. This presentation will walk you through all the options you have to organize your content inside the structures WordPress provides for you, out of the box, and will teach you how to make the most of WordPress for SEO and Marketing.
- Posts vs Pages
- Post taxonomies: Categories vs Tags
- Custom Menus and how they work with the theme
- Widgets and alternative sources of content
- Custom post types and taxonomies overview
This will be a simple and practical talk about how you can make the most out of what WordPres offers by default.
In addition, UStream will giving us an informative presentation replete with case studies about how video brings words to life.
NOTE: This Meetup is at UStream (410 Townsend Street, #400). We'll be moving the Meetup to Automattic's new space as soon as they're ready for us -- which should be in April! It's gonna be rad, but in the meantime, please UStream is generously permitting us to use their beautiful office just a couple blocks from AT&T park.
See you in a few weeks!
