WordPress Surf and Turf (or newb and geeky)

This location is shown only to members

Let's do a split session this time, first part for users of wordpress, and later on for developers. More details as we get closer to the date, and I'm open to suggestions from people - please leave a comment!

On the uber-geeky end, I can talk a bit about the new HTTP API if people are interested (replaces Snoopy for all HTTP-based operations, and I just added cookie support for it, coming in 2.8). Happy to chat about pretty much anything else as well.

Let's plan on users (content editors, writers, newbies) meeting at 5:30 and developers meeting at 7. Of course, cross-pollination is encouraged! We just want to set aside some specific times so that the meetup is useful for all levels of the wordpress community.

Has anyone else tried the Carrington theme framework? It seems powerful and elegant and I'm making progress so far (tiny steps ;). But I expect to hit some roadblocks and would be really happy to hear others' thoughts.

I've been re-doing a lot of websites (mine included) to run entirely on WordPress. I'm happy to talk about it to anyone interested. I'd also love to hear from anyone who has used cforms II extensively.

Hi. Can you make the Meetups later? So it's just starting at 7? I wanted to go to do this but realized that day that it was far too early for me to make. Thanks.

Lots of fun. Not quite sure which was the surf and which was the turf, but I don't think anyone cared.

I'd be interested to see some more advanced discussions at some of these meetups (in addition to the more beginner-type stuff). Perhaps we need to come up with some ideas ahead of time rather than try to do it on the spot. e.g. I've been considering how to build a plugin that would allow you to aggregate comments on your content from other sites, back to your wordpress site (Twitter, friendfeed, facebook). There are different plugins that do bits of this, but I'd love an integrated (and better approach) to making my site the "center of the universe" as far as conversations about content that *i* produce.
