NOTE: We'll be at a new venue again this month, hopefully the last change for a while. The last venue, with door locking issues and no street-level access, posed some problems, and our old friends who run the Technology Cooperative are moving once more. The meeting will be at 13 Emory Place, just a few blocks away from our last meeting place. There should be plenty of free parking right by the building and a front door you can come right in vs. having to wait for somebody to spot you and usher you in, as has happened at the last couple of meetings.
As the move is in progress, internet connectivity may be spotty or nonexistent, so bring a pad and pen as a backup if you wish to take notes. :)
Mike has kindly agreed to give this month's talk, whose summary he's given as follows:
This talk will go over the process of moving an existing .Net, Azure-based website to WordPress and how the various problems of the move were solved. Topics will include selecting a theme, plugins used and custom plugins developed, integration with services such as YouTube, FaceBook, Twitter, Disqus, and The Old Reader, and deprecating FeedBurner. Most importantly well look at how each of these decisions were made to support the goals of the site.
