Introduction to CSS

Of twelve voting in the poll I sent out last week, seven expressed a preference for a topic dealing with CSS. I already have some slides I used to walk through this talk for two members a couple of months ago and will plan on using the same. If you don't know what CSS is or have only a vague idea but are interested in learning how to tweak the look of your blog, you're in the very center of the target audience for this meeting.

Topics I'll cover incude the very basics of how CSS works, a live demo of actually tweaking some CSS, and a review of some tools you can use to play with CSS on your site without actually breaking your site. The presentation should be pretty beginner-friendly, though any CSS veterans who're interested should not hesitate to show up, as you might be able to help answer questions.

If you have particular CSS questions you'd like answered or problems you'd like help resolving, please bring them along (and if they're especially hairy, send them to me in advance).

As always, after we've wrapped up the topic du jour, we'll open up the floor for general WordPress and tech discussion and questions, so bring 'em if you've got 'em. Wireless is available, so feel free to bring your computer to play along.

For those who expressed an interest in Jetpack, never fear -- since there was a fair amount of interest, we'll do that topic at an upcoming meeting.

Finally, if there's something you'd like to see happening at these meetings that's not, or if there are things you think we could do better, please email to let me know. If you're on the member list but never show up, I'd be eager to learn why (and how I can fix that). Thanks!

Hey Daryl, how about some notes about how to find the building and tips on parking locally :)

Janet, would you mind giving me feedback on the "Where Do We Meet?" page I've just added would have helped last time? I'm planning this month's meeting and would like to make sure people can get to the place easily. Thanks!

Do you bring a laptop? Or just taking notes?

Either way. There's free wireless, so laptops are certainly welcome, but this isn't like a formal class or anything, and the presentation should be fairly short, so whatever you're most comfy with.
