We'll be sharing writing goals for 2014 and introducing William Zinsser's book, "Writing About Your Life," as a focus for discussion this year. Dues-paying members are welcome to bring a piece to share and critique.
Word WeaversWest Michigan is growing. Beginning in 2009 as the West Michigan Fellowship of Christian Writers, our group continues to grow as we encourage and equip writers in a faith-based environment.
In 2010, we joined Word Weavers International. By 2013, we were sponsoring four regional critique groups in the West Michigan area. We have plans to expend into the Detroit Metro area as well as to Northern Michigan in the coming months. Look for further information, as we draw closer toward opening groups in Royal Oak and Cadillac.
Our groups meet twice each month. Our vision is to provide encouragement, accountability, education, inspiration, and support for current and aspiring writers who thrive best in a faith-based environment. As talented writers are raised up and equipped, we strive to influence others toward Christ, one word at a time.
Annual Word Weavers membership is currently set at $45.00 per year and can be paid at www.Word-Weavers.com. But don't let the idea of dues hinder you from visiting a small-group or a chapter meeting. No one is expected to pay dues in order to walk through the door. After your initial visit, ask yourself these questions:
1) Is the group providing valuable support and fellowship for your writing efforts? 2) Do you feel yourself becoming a part of the group? In other words, do you see this group as "your" writer's group? 3) Do you want to invest in your writing successes by sharing in the critique time?
When you are comfortable answering "Yes" to these questions, visit our international website at www.Word-Weavers.com to officially join. Members can then participate in the meetings' critique sessions, join the private Facebook page, receive our monthly Loom newsletter, and partake in the other great benefits Word Weavers offers.
I speak for most of our members when I say I've grown the most as a writer from the constructive advice I have received during these regular critique sessions. Do you have a message, a book, or an idea buried in your heart? Join Us!!
