I've been thinking about writing as long as I can remember. The poems to mom in second grade, the inspiring English teacher in high school...then the dream sat in the back seat for many years. I was a mom of two boys, a first and second grade teacher for 27 years...life kept happening. The dream to write has been stirred up in the last few years. God has been prompting me and I have received affirmations from others. Finally, I am trying to get serious about it. I am a Jesus follower and trying to listen to the Holy Spirit's voice and write according to His plan and purpose.
I was a journal keeper during different periods of my life. In the last years I have been journaling more seriously, began a blog in 2012, have one rough manuscript, and another book that I'm working on quite seriously about mothers and daughters. I enjoy looking into my family history and health issues. I have written mostly non-fiction and memoir. I have done some devotionals.
I am new to the writing world in the last four years! I have a blog, which is myrnafolkert.wordpress.com I have completed a set of devotionals which are going to be in a publication in May of 2016. My hope is to write some books, and probably some more devotionals.
Yes, I've attended quite a few in the last couple years...Breathe Writers, JOT, Speak Up, Maranatha Christian Writing Conference, and Festival of Faith and Writing.
In three years...Lord willing, I would love to have at least one published book, and some more devotionals published.
Hi there! I write mostly non-fiction and memoir. I have also done devotionals. I love Word Weavers and try to never miss. It's a special mixture of critique group, Christian friendship, and encouragement. I've finally found a group of people like me!
I feel like I have finally found a group of people who are like me! The Holland/Zeeland group is a supportive community. I am so grateful and blessed to be included. They are genuine, helpful and caring. We inspire and encourage one another to keep writing.
